Run Run as Fast as You Can: Part 2

(I own the story Run Run As Fast As You Can. You may not steal it, and claim it is your own. I demand that if you do put a copy of it elsewhere that I be credited. This story is copyrighted.)

Though I left you with the image of me and my sisters walking off to the park on a beautiful day, smiling at the sheer greatness of this day, that could not last long with our little trio. But hey, that's what siblings are for, right? I mean, I know you're new to our lives, but just try to picture us walking down the street all happy for even five minutes? Couldn't do it could you? Eventually Liz would end up jabbering on about everything that had happened in the past few months, and of course, focus on my embarrassing moments.

"So at the Boxing day party, a couple days after we saw you, Fly started to tail this girl. They had talked a bit at the start of the party, so she didn't think it was too creepy." said Liz to Lilly. Lilly was focused on Lizzy, listening intently. She always does that when she's hearing about me and my love life. She needs to memorize every detail so she can shove it in my face later. I was walking a couple steps behind them. I wasn't too keen on staying close enough to be laughed at directly.

"Actually she later said that it was very cute." I put in for my own benefit. Lilly turned her head to me and glared a little, then I got a swift shhhhing, before she turned back to Liz, after she chuckled a little at the two of us. I wondered if we looked like clowns or something?

"Anyways." said Lizzy, pushing her sandy blond hair out of her bright blue eyes. "So they both end up in the living room, out by the coffee table, Flynn tries to talk to her again. She turns to look at him, and Fly, being the true Casanova he is trips, as he walks closer to her. They collide, but lips lock right before they hit the ground, and a vase of roses that was on the coffee table falls on them!" exclaimed Lizzy. Lilly stopped holding in the laugh she had got at the words "true Casanova". I felt my face get a little red. Less because of the epic tale of how I met Tamira, and more at the fact that Lilly, and everyone in the surrounding five miles had heard it because of Lizzy's loudness. Lilly practically howled with laughter. Yeah, I was screwed. I checked the time on my watch. 12:15. It hadn't been too long since we had left. Five minutes maybe. Jesus. How does my life go so down hill in such short amounts of time? "Well Flynn got his kiss, but ended up apologizing for it nonstop, after they both rung out their clothes, while Tammy kept on insisting that there was no harm done, and actually chuckling about Flynn's persistence." Lizzy finished her story, and Lilly continued to laugh, at what she had been screaming about not long ago.

"Smooth Romeo, real smooth." said Lilly turning at me smiling, and still a bit giggly, as she had not completely gotten over her laughing fit. I confess I was a little embarrassed. I really liked to keep my love life away from Lilly, who could use it to fuel her battering ram of accusation. But I couldn't help but smile at her. It was a funny failure.

"Yeah, and that vase cost me a fortune too." I said chuckling. But I straitened up after a second, and put up my index finger. "But, Romeo got Juliet's number, and they went out for-"

"A few months, as of a couple days ago." Lilly cut in. My good humor wavered long enough to form a glare, but I wouldn't let her get to me with Liz around. But Liz could feel the tension, and realized that this was going to become serious. Her smile fell away.

"Well old Capulet, I suppose that would be your fault, now wouldn't it. With your little rule." I retorted. Lilly glared at me.

"Look who actually payed attention in class for once. Congrats there Flynn." Lilly sneered. I just smirked at her, and gave her a "that's the best you can come up with" roll of the eyes. Liz saved me from having my throat ripped out by Lilly, who was now pissed.

"Why can't we date?" she asked. Lilly turned to her and gave her a somewhat sympathetic look. Like she was a little kid.

"Sweetie, you can date. It's just that you have to-" she began trying to be reassuring.

"But you have to be sure they are "the one" that you can spend your life with." Liz and I said in unison. How many times had we heard that? I lost count at 256. We both rolled our eyes and said. "We know, we know."

Lilly gave me an annoyed look, like I was the only one who had said anything. Lizzy was too Innocent to talk back or something. "It's for our own safety. It's because we're... special, and we can't let anybody know unless we completely trust them." Lilly attempted to explain. I was the biggest violator of this rule, well the except for sharing my specialness. An image of Estelle popped into my head. I dunno why. But I felt a little sad.

Lizzy pouted. "Come on. You know that we can't be completely sure at our age. And I know we're "special" but we're still kids. Why can't we just take a chance?" she insisted. Lilly glared at me, like I was giving her ideas. I put my hands up as a show of innocence.

"Sure we can Lizzy. Just spend some time with them, and if you know that they're meant for you, then go for them." said Lilly smiling. Suspicion hit me. That was a little weird, even for her. Either way, Lizzy was disappointed in this answer.

"Never mind." she mumbled. I came up next to her, and put my arm around her shoulder.

"Don't worry. She may be that up tight, but if you play by my book, we'll have you scoring as many guys as you like." I said smiling at her. Lizzy looked up at me and smiled, giggled a little bit, but still, she was happy to hear that somebody didn't want her to plan her life somebody before liking them. Lilly glared at me again. I just smiled, and turned back to Lizzy.

"I see park!" exclaimed Lizzy. She took my arm off her shoulder, and ran up the sidewalk weaving around some people walking in the opposite direction. She then skidded to a halt in front of the park, and ran inside. I laughed a little as she ran, and Lilly did too. How easy Lilly's emotions are to control, it's almost saddening.

"Somebody is restless to see Richard." I said smiling. Lilly turned to me and nodded.

"Let's hurry before she tackles him through a tree." she suggested, and then we both ran after her, apologizing to the startled people who had seen her go by. We rounded the corner into the park, to find a dirt path with trees lining the way to a few play sets. We didn't go down the path to the place where children laughed, and played. We headed off the path and into the woody area. We never went to the play place, the woods in the park were where we hung out every time this year.

The park was relatively open despite the "woods". There were trees that dotted the park, but we liked the denser areas more. Because that's where we found ourselves. In between the trees of Tailor park, five years ago. That's where they found us, and where we went our separate ways. Tailor park was important to us, because it was the last place we we're a family... well hopefully last. Lilly and I walked through the denser parts, and smiled. Even though it was a sad place, we always smiled here. Maybe because it's ironic that such a beautiful place could hold so much pain for us. Or it might be because we can see how far we've come since then, maybe even because we're together again for today, but whatever the reason we smile at this place. Always have, and probably always will. As we came to clearing sort of area, the official meeting place, and where the actual parting of ways happened, we saw Lizzy hugging Richard. Well, if it could be classified as hugging. It was more like pinning him to the ground, and yelling about how much she missed him. I hoped she didn't start actually hugging him, she might make his lungs collapse.

"Hey Ricky! How you been?" I called walking in with Lilly by my side laughing at the pair. Richard looked up at me with a happy yet scared for his life look, in his sea green eyes, his messy black hair was particularly in disorder, probably from being tackled to the ground. But he still smiled, slightly.

"Without injury until now." Ricky replied, and I couldn't help but chuckle. We've debated whether Lizzy actually has a crush on Richard, or if she simply likes to beat the crap out of him with shows of affection. In our whole lives we have never actually figured that out. "Help me up. Please." he pleaded jokingly. Lilly laughed a little.

"I'm not sure it would be safe to intervene." Lilly said, and moving on to simply giggling. I dropped the basket I was carrying, and walked over to the tightly restrained Ricky, and his personal chains, Lizzy. They we're made for each other. For what, I'm not yet sure, but something. Maybe a hot dog stand.

"Liz, food first, then manslaughter." I said, and Lizzy's head turned, and her eyes met mine. She had a look on her that made it seem like she was happy with herself. She faked a pout.

"Alright bro." she said, and got off of Ricky, who started to feel for broken bones. We all laughed at him a bit, but it doesn't hurt to be safe. He was wearing an orange t-shirt with three surf boards lined up on them, a pair of shorts that came to about the base of his knees. They were navy blue, with white parts on the outer parts of both legs, and the shorts looked water proof, and a necklace with a shark tooth on it. Meet Ricky, the lightly tanned surfer dude of our little group. He was a cool kid, and he's 13. Oh! Speaking of age, I forgot to mention, Lizzy is as of today 11, and Lilly and I are both 15, I'm just a few months ahead of her.

"So how was Hawaii?" asked Lilly. As Lizzy and I joined beside her, forming a line facing Ricky.

"It was great! Caught some killer waves!" he exclaimed happily. We chuckled. It isn't fair, he tries not to be stereotypical, he really does, but his family is pretty rich. Not private jet rich, but the kind of rich that'll let you take a lot of trips to the beach, enough to blend with the culture, and bring some extra for back home. He facepalmed and then laughed with us. He was always calm like that, and could always laugh at a shot at himself. "Yeah, it was a great trip." he said smiling. "Oh! And I met a girl out there. I've got her charmed, I think, I was hoping you could give me some pointers on reeling her in." He said directed at me. Lilly got a little annoyed.

"Girls aren't fish Richard you don't reel the-" she began.

"Sure, I've got some tips for ya." I interrupted her. I looked over at Lizzy. Hoping she wasn't about to rip his limbs off. She was still smiling. Point for enjoys annoying. And then at Lilly who was glaring at me. I heard Richard's stomach growl. "I think his innards are encouraging us to eat instead of fight!" I said, hoping to dodge a bullet. "I'll get it ready, and you guys go down to the river." I offered.

"I second that motion." Put in my reliable partner in crime, Ricky.

"I like that plan!" Lizzy added, quickly. Good accomplices come in handy. Lilly sighed.

"Whatever. But I'm hanging back to make sure that you don't sabotage the food, or dig a hole under the blanket so we all fall in it, like last year." she said sternly.

"What do you take me for, a child. And besides that was classic." I replied. Ricky chuckled.

"That was a great picnic." he said in a low tone. Lilly rolled her eyes at Ricky and me.

"It's almost sad that your guess was that accurate." she retorted. I tried to look hurt, I wasn't doing a good job. "Anyways, you guys go to the lake while me and Flynn get the picnic ready." she continued. Lizzy and Ricky ran off towards a lake in the center of the park, with a path surrounding it, just for joggers. "Oh! And Ricky! Don't try and run on the water again! You remember what the nice cop said last time!" she called. Richard turned his head back.

"Come on Lil! That goose was asking for it!" he complained, but didn't stick around to argue. That just left me and Lilly. I took a cliche red and white checker pattern blanket out of my basket, and Lilly got her flower blanket, and Richard's intimidating shark blanket. It was seriously a little creepy, it was showing off it's rows of teeth. It was like a more terrifying version of Bruce from "Finding Nemo". Needless to say, I don't like the water, or it's inhabitants. I even fear putting shrimp in my mouth. Would it be considered irrational to think that it will come back to life, and shred my vital organs? I think not!

"Why do you have to encourage them?" Lilly asked me out of the blue, and pulling me out of my transfixion on the shark. She came over to help me spread my blanket.

"What do you mean encouraging them?" I asked, as we flapped the blanket before putting it on the ground, and flattening it out.

"I mean telling Lizzy and Richard that you'll help them with their love lives. You know that it isn't safe." she replied. I noticed she wasn't angry, just worried. She tossed me half of her sunflower blanket.

"Come on Lilly. They're just kids, and so are we. I mean, you can't expect them to just keep the monkey of the past on their backs. They're going to slip up, and be kids. They can't be like us." I said back, as I unfolded the blanket.

"Us?" she said, and giggled. I chuckled as well.

"Yes us. Don't think that I don't hold all the pain you do. We we're all there, they just didn't understand it as well as we did. They didn't understand what Gavin did like we did. Hell! Lizzy can't even remember who Gavin is half the time!" I said back, our little laugh dying when I started to speak, and we became grim at the mention of Gavin. His face appeared in my mind, his smile, and the scar on his cheek, his bright green eyes, and his almost white messy blond hair. He was happy in that picture in my head, but it still made me sad, to think of him. Lilly flapped the blanket. I didn't say it, but I think I had the feeling even worse than she did. She didn't have to watch the whole thing, and I never told her what had happened.

"I know you do. That's why it's today, isn't it?" she asked. I gave her a quizzical look. She sighed. "Tammy. That's why you broke up with her, that's why you break up with everybody around this time. Because today, you remember what you are." she elaborated. I didn't need to agree with her, she knew she was right. I looked away. We put down her blanket, and worked on Richard's in silence. It almost sickens me that I care this much about what I am, how much of a freak show I am. I shouldn't care, it's hypocritical of me. I always talk about not caring, and that we're free, but I know we aren't. It's just me, dreaming again, and trying to convince others that I'm right. I'm wrong, and I know it. Once we had all of the blankets down, we both sat down on them, back to back, once again in silence. I decided to break it.

"So who's the guy?" I asked. I felt Lilly turn her head.

"What guy?" she asked, not pretending she didn't know, she was a little clueless about what I was talking about.

"The guy that you have a crush on." I replied. I felt her stiffen. I could almost see her smile, if I wasn't turned in the other direction. Okay, so I might have imagined with my large ego, but still, she totally was.

"I shouldn't have even bothered to try and hide it. His name is Josh King. He goes to my school." she said. I had heard of Josh King, surprisingly enough. See Lilly went to this big time private school on scholarship. I hate to admit it, but she's smart. Anyways, Josh King was your standard jock with all the girls swooning over him because he's so sporty and good looking. Not only that, but he was Michael King's son, CEO of King Enterprises, hugely powerful company, which no doubt meant he was extremely rich as well. I hated his guts. Then again, what male my age didn't. I always thought that Lilly was above all of that crap, but apparently not.

"Yeah, I know him. But that's mighty contradictory with all this "the one" crap you pull." I said, trying not to sound angry. Kind of hard not to be angry when you lose bushels of respect for one of the people you trust most. Lilly moved and sat beside me just so I could be sure she was glaring at me.

"Don't judge me Flynn Desmarques. I-I think he might be." she said, blushing slightly. I turned to stare at her wide mouthed.

"Are you sure that we're talking about the same Josh King? The one who quite possibly has twelve separate airports named after him" I asked. Not believing she could be telling the truth. I mean, how the hell does she end up socializing with him at school with so many waves of girls on him? She looked angry again.

"Shut up! It's only two!" she spat back. I was surprised that there was even one airport named after him. "And... well I caught him when he was alone once, and we started talking, and he turned out to be really nice, so we... we kind of became friends." she said, and her face went red again. I rolled my eyes at her. OK so she was serious.

"Oooo la la! Friendship is in the air! Come on Lilly, jump back to the reality you love so very much. It's not like he likes you back or anything. You don't really scream something special." I said. I had pissed her off. She punched my arm.

"Well soooooorry Flit! I can't quite match your flamboyance, because I'd prefer to find somebody who actually interested in me!" she yelled. I didn't wince.

"So the whole not putting yourself out there thing is less than a little protection dome. It's to sort out the pervs from the nice guys too." I replied calmly. Lilly became a little more passive. I sighed. "It's okay to have a crush, and I don't really know him like you do. So just go after him, so you can finally come over to the dark side." I said, trying to cheer her up. She gave me a good hard look to make sure I wasn't playing with her. I just looked away, but something caught my eye. There was a tall guy in a big trench coat, and hat. Like one of those PIs from the movies. But who the hell would dress like that on a day like this? Plus, why would a private investigator go to the park in his dramatic threads. "Weirdo 3 O'clock." I said, the man seemed to turn his eyes this way. Weird shining blue eyes, and his face was covered in shadow, so I couldn't make out facial features, and he had white gloves on his hands as well. He started to walk this way, his walk was weird to, like, like it wasn't human.

"7 O'clock, and 11 O'clock too." Lilly put in. And sure enough, guys in the same kind of clothes we're coming our way too, all with the same glowing eyes. We both stiffined. "En guard?" she asked.

"Yeah." I replied, as they came closer, they were fixed on us. Whoever they were they weren't much for incospicuisy. "Of all the days." I muttered. Lilly noded. We looked from one guy to the other. Tension built up as they got closer. I clenched my fists, and Lilly clenched hers. Then, they were in front of us, surrounding our triangle of blankets. We both stood up. "Excuse me sirs. We we're just sitting here and would really appreciate it if you-" I stopped as creepy guy 3 O'clock, well formally, had knives drop out from his wrists. They were more like short swords, the lenght of his forearms, and I had to give him points for having abnormally long forearms. "OK, so diplomacy just got flushed down the toilet." I said, looking at his unchanging completely blue eyes. nothing but blue, glowing blue. He made a shrill mechanicle cry. I ignited my fist in flames. "Bring it!" I challenged. The man moved more quickly than I had expected, like, really freaking fast. He lunged at me trying to make a downwards cut across my chest. I narrowly dodged to the left "Jesus!" I screamed, as his wrist blade plunged into the ground. His head turned to me, to his left, and his eyes were still emotionless and glowing blue, but I could see his annoyed attitde in his movements. He used his free hand and thrust his knife at me, I was still surprised at his speed, but I snaked around his arm, and got behind him, grabbing onto his left arm, and started to punch his face repeatedly with my flaming fist. But when I punched him, it was hard, it wasn't like flesh. It was hard, and solid. It was like punching steel, and he didn't even react to my punches. His face would move, but it was like he didn't feel pain. After one of my seventh punch his hat flew off, and then I saw it. He was metal, his entire head. Just metal. There were scres here and there, and his face was somewhat like a human's, but he had no mouth, just vent this vent. and his eyes, they were like freaking lightbulbs. "Oh you are fucking kidding me. Robots!" I exclaimed. The metal man swung his arm with tremendous force, and I flew off, and hit a tree. My vision went blurry for a second but then I saw the whole scene in front of me. My own titanium buddy walking towards me with both blades out, ready to kill, and Lilly, who clapped her hands together, and as they pulled apart, a stream of blue electricity flew between them. The other two robots now had their own weapons out, and Lilly looked back at me. We locked eyes. They had found us. Our time for a normal life was over now. The chase was back on, it was time for us to start running again, if we even survived this.

Wow, that truly WAS epic. And the cliffhangers... I seriously need to keep reading this story. xD The characters are great, and Richard and Lizzy remind me of Kyou/Kagura in the manga/anime Fruits Basket, which is hilarious (Lizzy's nicer though. ^^')[/endrant] Anyway, that was another wonderful part to your story, and I am highly looking forward to seeing the next part! Great job, Nattie!

<3 (Less than 3! :D )

Starting to sound like Maximum Ride. This also leaves the question; what is Lizzy's power? You get the basic principle of all the others in part 2 except for Lizzy. Good job anyway. Just don't have them sprouting wings and don't create an "Angel" character, OK?

Nathaniel said...

I kind of created this story because I missed the days when Maximum Ride was good. And her power is very basic, I assure you, she's more like a Nudge than an Angel. I'm just going to remove an Angel character, and a Total character completely, both characters served no purpose besides dead weight despite being the most powerful, and being annoying by being the most powerful. And Total was just fail. Total died for me as soon as Akila came in, if that's that freaking husky's name. Oh, and when he got wings. The defying of logic chicken wings.

And what about Richard, what do you think his power is? Hmmmmm, and I left waaaaaaaaaaaay too many hints to Lizzy's power.

Also, I plan to get far away from Maximum Ride later.

Thank you all for less than threeing my story! And I do hope you keep reading, because I really like writing this story. And I plan to have a new character in the next chapter.

Cameo appearence by me.

WTF!?

My suspicions were proven correct! The new character should be either magnetic or telekenetic or possibly have command over gravity. Yes, i'm obsessed with the ability to levitate stuff. Sound would be nice too. Sometime in the story there has to be a hired sniper assasin after them.

Nathaniel said...

Well maybe, I have it some kind of planned out, and Magnetic is slightly one of the powers, just keep your eyes on the robuts to come. :D And while telekenisis is an epic power, I have it planned for none of the major characters, not even minor ones. XP It's all got something to do with how they receive powers that makes telekenisis hard to give. But I think this is like a collaboration rip off, because my plans only get loopier from here.
